A Small Christian Community (SCC) is a group of eight to twelve people who
gather on a regular basis, seeking to deepen their faith through the prayerful
reading of Scripture and sharing on its application to daily life. The SCC groups
are lectionary based which means that the Scripture passages which are read and
around which the faith-sharing occurs are from the Sunday liturgy.
The groups meet in homes with each group deciding on the time and place of the meeting, based on
the needs and availability of the members. Most meet weekly or bi-weekly. In addition to Scripture
reflection and sharing, group members also socialize through the sharing of meals or refreshments.
The parish provides a reflection booklet, Insights, to assist the facilitator in prayer preparation, music
suggestions and reflection questions. For Spanish speaking groups, the resource Oremos is
provided.
