The Usher/Greeter Ministry is a rewarding and gracious activity for those who serve. As the initial point of contact for people entering the Church, the Usher/Greeter sets the tone for the liturgy with their welcoming smile and greeting. This ministry is comprised of adults and youth who serve with their parents to provide this valuable service to the community. Some of their primary responsibilities include:
Welcoming people as they enter the Church
Assisting parishioners with seating
Receiving offertory collections and presenting the gifts to the presider
Advising Eucharistic Ministers if someone needs to be served communion in their pew
Assisting with emergency needs during Mass
Distributing bulletins after Mass
If you have attended mass in person recently, you have seen the ushers in action. The position is an especially important one and does not demand a lot of time. We want to have between 5 and 6 Ushers per mass and we have 4 masses per weekend. We anticipate more masses in the future when things settle down. Our duties include assisting parishioners to their seats, guiding people to communication, and helping show hospitality.
Being an usher is a great way to serve our community. You can lead by example, showing your family how important it is to give back to the Lord for the Blessing He gives us daily. Being an usher also gives you the opportunity to meet new people.
